realme teased a new device with a periscope telephoto camera on its official Twitter account. The teaser image shows a circular camera module with two circular lenses and one rectangular lens, which is likely to be the periscope zoom camera. The caption reads, “This light will shine on realme. Just wait…”
The periscope telephoto feature allows users to capture distant objects with high optical zoom without losing much detail or quality. It uses a prism or mirror to reflect light into a sideways-mounted sensor, which can offer more magnification than a conventional telephoto lens.
Several phones use a periscope telephoto camera, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the latest flagship to sport the feature, which offers 5x optical zoom. This also explains why the image text on the teaser says “NOT ONLY MAX CAN ZOOM.”
realme seems to be challenging Apple in this area, possibly at a lower price point. The teaser also suggests that the phone will have a premium design and performance.

While realme has not revealed any details about the phone, some reports have speculated that it could be the realme GT 5 Pro, which is rumored to feature a 64MP Sony IMX9-series main periscope telephoto camera and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
Alternatively, it could be a new mid-range phone with impressive photography skills, as suggested by a well-known tipster on Weibo, maybe similar to the premium mid-range OPPO Reno10 Pro+.
