Four devices on the list were high-end flagships, save for one mid-range phone

Ookla released its Q4 2023 Speedtest Intelligence data revealing the fastest 5G devices and brands in terms of median download speed in the Philippines.

The report shows the iPhone 15 Pro Max had the fastest median download speed of 95.14 Mbps among all 5G phones in the country. It was closely followed by the POCO F5 with a median download speed of 93.06 Mbps.

The four devices on the list were all premium models with high-end specifications and features. The POCO F5 is the sole mid-range device on the list, offering impressive performance at an affordable price.

It remains to be seen if the rankings will change with the arrival of Samsung’s new flagship series, the Galaxy S24.

By brand, the fastest is Apple with 51.19 Mbps, followed by Samsung with 37.76 Mbps, Xiaomi with 30.66 Mbps, HUAWEI with 19.98 Mbps, and Infinix with 18.90 Mbps.

The Philippines’ median download speed on 5G in December 2023 was 28.12 Mbps, good enough to rank 86 in the world.

The report also revealed the median download speeds of the three major mobile network operators in the country that offer 5G services: Smart, Globe, and DITO.

Smart had the fastest median download speed of 37.64 Mbps on 5G in Q4 2023, followed by Globe with 26.44 Mbps and DITO with 19.74 Mbps. Smart also had the highest 5G availability with 29.1%, while Globe had 21.4% and DITO had 14.7%.

The data from Ookla shows that the Philippines is making progress in its 5G adoption and development, as more devices and networks become available and accessible to consumers.
