Google Pixel 8 Series clinches Best Smartphone at GLOMO Awards

The phone beat a competitive field of contenders, including the iPhone 15 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S23 series.

The Google Pixel 8 Series has been crowned as the Best Smartphone at the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards, held at MWC Barcelona 2024.

The Pixel 8 Series surpassed a competitive field of contenders, which include the iPhone 15 Pro series, the OnePlus Open/OPPO Find N3, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

The award was rigorously assessed by world-leading independent analysts, journalists, and influencers, covering the smartphone market from January to December 2023.

The GLOMO Awards, judged by over 200 independent experts and featuring 30 awards across six categories, are recognized as the industry’s most prestigious honor. Being shortlisted for a GLOMO Award signifies a company’s status as a significant influencer in the tech sector, and winning one represents the highest commendation by peers in the digital industry.

Google Pixel 8 Pro

The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are powered by Google’s custom-made processor, the Tensor G3, a 4nm chip with 9 cores and a clock speed of up to 3GHz.

The Pixel 8 has 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and a 6.2-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. It has a dual camera setup with a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. It also has a 10.5MP selfie camera.

The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, has 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. It has a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. It has a triple camera setup with a 50MP main, a 48MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultra-wide camera. It, too, has a 10.5MP selfie shooter in front.

The Pixel 8 starts at USD 699 (around P40,000) for the 128GB model, while the Pixel 8 Pro starts at USD 999 (P56,600).
