Google announced its latest lineup of Pixel devices. The Pixel 9 is the base model, unveiled at the most recent Made by Google event.

The Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch OLED Actua display with 2424×1080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and a peak brightness of 2700 nits. It has a 24-bit color depth and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

At the back is a dual camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera with up to 8x zoom and OIS; and a 48MP ultra-wide camera with an f/1.7 aperture lens. The front camera has a 10.5MP sensor under a hole-punch cutout.

Under the hood is Google’s new Tensor G4 processor with 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage options. The chip features 20% faster web browsing and 17% faster app launching. It also runs on Android 14. And like the Pixel 8, it comes with 7 years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates.

The phone also comes with a 4700mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging and Qi wireless charging.

By far the biggest improvement of the Pixel 9 is its improved AI software offering. The biggest additions include a new Screenshots app, the new Pixel Studio, and an improved Magic Editor.

The Screenshots app places all screenshots in one place. It can also make recommendations and reminders of what’s on the screenshot. The Pixel Studio allows users to create AI-generated images using text prompts. The Magic Editor has a new “reimagine” feature that works like Samsung’s Galaxy app. Users can select or highlight a part of the image and use text prompts to replace the highlighted part.
