Google announced the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. Compared to the Pixel 9, the Pro variants offer a more premium design, a higher resolution display, and a 48MP telephoto camera.
Both the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL are powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 chipset, which offers improved performance with 20% faster web browsing and 17% faster app launching. It also runs on Android 14 and promises 7 years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates.
At the back, they come with a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera with up to 8x zoom and OIS; a 48MP ultra-wide camera with an f/1.7 aperture lens; and a 48MP telephoto camera with up to 30x zoom. Meanwhile, the front camera was bumped up to a 42MP sensor, compared to the 10.5MP on the vanilla Pixel 9.
The Pixel 9 Pro has a 6.3-inch OLED Super Actua LTPO display, a 2856×1280 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR support. The screen has a 24-bit color depth with a peak brightness of 3000 nits. It also has a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 front and back design, and a 4700mAh battery with fast wired and wireless charging support.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL, on the other hand, has a 6.8-inch OLED Super Actua LTPO display with a 2856×1280 resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 in front and the back, and a larger 5060mAh battery, also with fast wired and wireless charging support.
The Pixel 9 Pro Series comes with improved AI software offering, including a new Screenshots app, the new Pixel Studio, and an improved Magic Editor.
The Screenshots app places all screenshots in one place. It can also make recommendations and reminders of what’s on the screenshot. The Pixel Studio allows users to create AI-generated images using text prompts. The Magic Editor has a new “reimagine” feature that works like Samsung’s Galaxy app. Users can select or highlight a part of the image and use text prompts to replace the highlighted part.
The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL come in Porcelain (white), Rose Quartz (light pink), Hazel (metallic green), and Obsidian (black). Check out the price list below:
