OPPO Find N5: Hands-on and first impressions

OPPO recently launched its latest foldable innovation, the Find N5, globally. We were fortunate to get a quick hands-on with the device and here are our initial impressions.

Design and Build Quality

The OPPO Find N5 is incredibly well-made and lightweight, available in Cosmic Black and Misty White. It is gorgeous, striking a balance between size and design with a sleek profile.

The black variant is for those who want a more traditional color.

The Misty White variant boasts a premium optical nano-coating with an elegant textured finish, while the Cosmic Black variant features a traditional black finish reminiscent of an iPhone.

The device has flat sides and curved corners, making it comfortable to hold. The rear camera module is circular with a brushed metal bezel, positioned at the center, housing three lenses and an LED flash.

Dimensions and Hinge

When folded, the Find N5 has a slim 8.93mm profile, slightly thicker than the compact OPPO Find X8. It weighs just 229g. Unfolded, it measures 4.21mm, making it thinner than last year’s HONOR Magic V3, which had a thickness of 4.35mm.

One of the phone’s key features is the Titanium Flexion Hinge, now 26% smaller and 36% more rigid than its predecessor. It is made from Grade 5 titanium alloy and Ultra-High Strength Steel (UHSS) for added durability.

More importantly, this hinge allows a satisfying experience when opening and closing the device, with a smooth and natural feel.

The Titanium Flexion Hinge allows for a thinner design when unfolded.

Display

The Find N5 features a 6.62-inch FHD AMOLED display when folded, with a 2616×1140 resolution, 1-120Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 2450 nits, and Ultra-Thin Nanocrystal Glass protection.

The crease is almost invisible.

Unfolded, it opens up to an expansive 8.12-inch AMOLED display with 2480×2248 resolution, a smooth 1-120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 2100 nits. The screen is shielded by PET+UTG glass for added protection.

The inner display has vibrant colors, perfect for watching videos. The speakers sound good, too.

The inner display has a barely visible crease on it. It’s hardly noticeable when viewed head-on and only becomes slightly visible from an angle. Even then, it’s very minimal and doesn’t take away anything from the overall display quality.

Hardware and Performance

The power and volume controls are on the right-hand side when closed. It also has an alert slider.

At the bottom, you’ll find the SIM tray, USB-C port, primary microphone, and speaker. A secondary microphone and an additional speaker grill are positioned at the top, along side an IR blaster for remote control functionality.

Triple camera setup, co-developed with Hasselblad.

For optics, the Find N5 features a triple camera module co-developed with Hasselblad, that includes a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. It also has two 8MP selfie cameras, one on the cover display and another on the inner display.

Initial impressions of the image quality are positive. Photos exhibit natural colors with impressive details and sharpness.

Under the hood, the Find N5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The processor has seven cores instead of the usual eight, likely to keep temperatures under control.

The phone runs on ColorOS 15 on top of Android 15, with several AI features for performance and image editing. OPPO promised up to five years of Android version updates and six years of security patches.

Battery and Other Features

The device is equipped with a 5600mAh dual-cell Silicon-Carbon battery supporting 80W SUPERVOOC wired and 50W AIRVOOC wireless fast charging. According to OPPO, it can play a continuous video stream for up to 25 hours.

Battery life needs further testing, but 25 hours of continuous video streaming sounds good.

Additional features include immersive stereo speakers and impressive water resistance with IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 ratings, which means it can resist jets of water.

Pricing and Availability

The OPPO Find N5 is priced at SGD 2,499, which converts to around PHP 102,900 or USD 1,900. For availability in your region, visit OPPO’s official website. At this point, there are no information yet of a Philippine release. Stay tuned for more updates.
