How GCash is empowering women with fintech solutions

GCash is breaking barriers in digital finance to help more women access financial services. By using artificial intelligence (AI) and innovative tools, the app is making financial inclusion easier and more accessible for everyone, especially women.

GCash uses AI-powered features like eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) and GScore to provide services like savings, loans, and insurance to people who may not have traditional documents.

This is a game-changer for underserved communities, including millions of Filipino women. Today, half of GCash’s users are women, and they make up most of the customers for GSave, GLoan, and GInsure. These services not only help women save money and access credit, but they also enable them to protect themselves and their families through affordable insurance.

Martha Sazon, CEO of Mynt, the company behind GCash, believes that empowering women is key to building stronger communities. “Our goal of Finance For All is inextricably linked to nation-building in the Philippines. We know this cannot be achieved without women’s inclusion, as we have seen that women’s empowerment leads to uplifting communities,” Sazon said.

AI has helped GCash create tailored solutions for its users. Whether it’s offering microloans for small businesses or affordable insurance, the app supports women in achieving financial independence and reaching their goals.

GCash is proving that technology can make finance more inclusive. By focusing on the needs of women and using innovative tools, it is leading the way in creating a fairer and more accessible financial system for everyone.

“Each step toward financial inclusion is a step toward accelerating Filipino women’s economic empowerment,” concluded Sazon. “This month especially, we bear in mind what was reported by the World Economic Forum: that we stand to achieve full gender equality only in the year 2158 if we maintain our current pace. We at GCash feel the urgency now more than ever and aim to further utilize AI as tech for good.”
