DOTr permanently revokes license of driver who counterflowed on Skyway

Caught on CCTV: Skyway driver goes against traffic.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has permanently revoked the license of a driver caught counterflowing on the Skyway in the early morning of August 4, Monday.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the lifetime ban after CCTV footage showed the driver going against traffic at around 3:32 am. The video showed the vehicle heading straight into oncoming cars, flashing headlights, and putting other drivers in danger.

(A suspension isn’t enough for this driver’s license because it’s clear from the CCTV footage that he endangered the lives of drivers in oncoming vehicles. I have ordered the permanent revocation of this reckless driver’s license so that his dangerous driving won’t be followed by others.)

The DOTr said that reckless driving has no place on public roads, especially on major highways like the Skyway. The agency said the license cancellation takes effect immediately. Dizon also urged the public to report similar violations.

This move highlights the government’s stricter stance on road safety and aims to prevent future incidents of dangerous driving.
