Filipinos need to work 101 full days to afford the new iPhone 17 Pro (256GB), based on average wages and an 8-hour workday. The phone is priced at ₱79,990.
In contrast, workers in Luxembourg only need to work 3 days to buy the same model. This highlights the wide gap in income and purchasing power between countries.
The affordability gap grows even more with the iPhone 17 Pro Max (2TB), which costs a whopping ₱146,990. Using the data, we asked Gemini to compute how many days Filipinos need to work to afford the top-end model. The answer: a whopping 186 days. That’s nearly double the time required for the Pro model.
Even the base iPhone 17 (256GB), priced at ₱57,990, would take a Filipino around 73 workdays to afford, still quite a stretch for the average wage earner.
Globally, the average worker needs only 26 days to afford the iPhone 17 Pro. In India, it takes 160 days. In the Philippines, long workweeks still don’t make high-end tech more accessible.

These numbers show how income levels affect access to new devices. For many Filipinos, owning the latest iPhone remains a major financial challenge.
The iPhone 17 and 17 Pro were launched on September 10. Philippine availability is expected sometime in October.
