Meta’s Threads has added a new feature called ghost posts, which automatically disappear after 24 hours.
Ghost posts work like temporary stories on other apps. After one day, the post is archived. Replies go to the user’s inbox, and only the original poster can see who liked or responded. This setup gives users more privacy and control.
To use the feature, tap the ghost icon before posting. It’s now available to all Threads users.

This update follows other changes to the platform. Users can now add longer text, up to 10,000 characters, and hide spoilers in posts.
Threads recently overtaken X in global daily active mobile users, according to Similarweb. On September 20, it recorded 128.7 million daily users, edging past X’s 127.1 million. It also leads in worldwide iOS usage, with 62.5 million users compared to X’s 56.6 million.

By adding disappearing posts, Threads joins other platforms that offer short-lived content. Meta plans to keep improving the platform to support open and honest conversations. Stay tuned for updates.
