The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has rolled out CICC ScamSafe, a new program aimed at protecting Filipinos from online and offline scams. The initiative gives people a simple way to report suspicious activities, learn about common tactics, and pick up tips to stay safe.
According to the Philippine National Police, reported online scams dropped from 14,529 cases in 2024 to 9,834 in 2025. More suspects were also caught this year. Even with the decline, the CICC warns that scams could spike during the holiday season when transactions and generosity are at their peak.
ScamSafe is built around awareness and prevention. It explains how scams usually work, points out red flags, and highlights groups most at risk. The project also includes training for local government units and CICC staff to improve their ability to respond and protect communities.
People can report scams through the CICC’s 1326 hotline or its official social media channels. These reports help track and block fraudulent numbers and websites using the agency’s Site Blocking and Monitoring Dashboard.
