Chrome’s AI Mode gets new features for smarter browsing and productivity

Google has upgraded to AI Mode in the Chrome browser to make search and browsing more practical. The update is now live in the United States, with global availability expected soon.

AI Mode now opens links side by side with the browser, so you can compare them without switching tabs. This is useful for shopping, research, or checking reviews. It also pulls context from the page you’re on, making follow-up questions more relevant.

A new “plus” menu lets you add recent tabs, images, or files like PDFs into AI Mode. Students can use it to bring lecture notes into searches for clearer explanations. Professionals can mix documents and web pages to streamline tasks. Creative tools such as Canvas and image generation are also accessible from this menu.

For education, students can pull in class notes for customized explanations. For work, professionals can streamline tasks by mixing documents and web pages in searches. The goal is to reduce friction and keep information in one place.

Google says the goal is to make AI tools useful in everyday browsing, which makes Chrome a hub for productivity and creativity.
