Apple has launched the new Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra, bringing faster performance, new AI features, and updated connectivity. The compact desktop is built for creators, developers, and pros who need more power for heavy tasks.
The M5 Max chip has an 18‑core CPU, up to 40‑core GPU, and support for up to 128GB of unified memory. The M5 Ultra doubles that with a 36‑core CPU, up to 80‑core GPU, and up to 512GB of memory.

Apple says AI performance is up to 4.3x faster than the last generation, while graphics are up to 1.8x faster.
Connectivity also gets a boost. The Mac Studio now supports Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thunderbolt 5. Users can connect up to eight displays or four Studio Display XDRs at 5K/120Hz. Thunderbolt 5 also allows clustering multiple Mac Studios for faster AI workloads.
For creative work, the M5 Max is ideal for musicians, designers, and developers. The M5 Ultra is built for filmmakers, VFX artists, and data scientists. The Media Engine supports hardware‑accelerated H.264, HEVC, ProRes, and AV1, with the Ultra handling up to 33 streams of 8K ProRes.

The new Mac Studio ships with macOS 27 Golden Gate, which includes Siri AI and expanded Apple Intelligence tools for apps, automation, and photo editing. Apple also highlights its use of recycled materials, with 35% recycled content and a 100% recycled aluminum enclosure.
