Apple unveils iPad mini with OLED display, nano-texture option; starts at ₱49,990

Apple has unveiled the new iPad mini, with prices revealed in the Philippines. This is the biggest update the compact tablet has seen in years. It now comes with an OLED display, a faster A20 Pro chip, and an IP67-rated design, with prices starting at PHP 49,990.

The biggest change is the new 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. It offers thinner bezels, brighter visuals, and up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness. For users who often work outdoors, Apple also offers an optional nano-texture display to help reduce glare.

Inside, the iPad mini runs on Apple’s new A20 Pro chip. The company says the chip delivers faster CPU, graphics, and AI performance than the previous model.

Apple also redesigned the tablet to be thinner at just 5.4mm. Despite the slimmer body, the iPad mini now comes with IP67 water and dust resistance, offering extra protection for users on the go.

The cameras have also been updated. The device features a 12MP Center Stage front camera for video calls and a 12MP rear camera that supports 4K video recording. Connectivity has also improved with support for Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

The new iPad mini works with both the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB‑C), making it a more useful option for students, professionals, and anyone who likes taking notes or drawing on the go.
