The Redmi Note 7 was recently announced in China. This is the first phone under the new Redmi sub-brand.
As expected, the Redmi Note 7 features the heavily teased 48MP camera on board with a Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor.
Up front, the handset has a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with a waterdrop notch which houses a 13MP selfie camera, topped with a Gorilla Glass 5 panel. It is powered by an 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor. Redmi opted for an older chipset, likely to keep costs down. There are 3 configurations, 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB, and 6GB + 64GB. Battery capacity is set at 4,000mAh.
The Redmi Note 7’s highlight feature is undoubtedly the 48MP main camera with an f/1.8 lens. Like Huawei, it uses a Quad Bayer filter which outputs large megapixel images to 12MP.
The phone also carries a new logo at the back that reads “Redmi by Xiaomi.” On our previous post, we mentioned that Redmi has become an independent sub-brand of the Xiaomi; with the former concentrating on low cost, high value phones, and the latter on mid- to high-end handsets.
As for the price of the Redmi Note 7, the 3GB + 32GB will go for CNY999, the 4GB + 64GB for CNY1,199, and the 6GB + 64GB for CNY1,399.
You’ll see how affordable the Redmi Note 7 is when converted to Philippine Pesos, which is around PHP7,700, PHP9,300, and PHP10,800, respectively.
Pre-orders are ongoing in China, with release date scheduled on January 15, 2019. No news yet if it will be available in the Philippines.
