AOC is the Philippines’ top monitor brand, offering high quality products with great value at affordable prices. One such product is the AOC 24GE 23.8-inch gaming monitor.
With a price of Php 10,900, the AOC 24G2E 23.8-inch is one of the best gaming monitors in the market right now, offering a 144Hz FHD panel and a fast 1ms response time.
On this review, we’re going to take a look at how well it does in real life.
Design, Display & Features
For a gaming monitor, the AOC 24G2E features a minimalist design with a mix of black and red colors. It has a clean layout (which I perceive as less aggressive-looking) with a look that is still unmistakably gaming.
The IPS panel measures 23.8-inches with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, up to 144Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync, 1ms response time, and FreeSync.
The bezels surrounding the screen are really narrow, save for the bottom one. You get an almost all screen front which provides a more immersive feel.
At the back, we have the VESA mount holes should you decide to mount it. The ports comprised of one VGA, two HDMI 1.4’s, one DisplayPort 1.2, a 3.5mm audio input, and 3.5mm audio jack. It doesn’t come with onboard speakers, but for the price, we’re probably asking too much.
OSD or On Screen Display controls are handled by buttons, which I found cumbersome to use. Often times I fumble over simple tasks such as adjusting the brightness. A joystick would have made this better suited for quick adjustments.
The monitor is fully ergonomic, allowing you to adjust the height and tilt accordingly. It is very stable, thanks to the metal stand and base.
The IPS panel itself has vibrant and punchy colors with listed brightness of 250 nits. It does get really bright (especially in dark rooms), so adjust accordingly. Color gamut is wide with a 101% DCI-P3, 110% NTSC, and 126% sRGB.
Gamers will be very happy with the monitor’s features. The aforementioned 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time allows for a smooth gaming experience with no motion blur.
It comes with AOC Shadow Control and AOC Game Color that allows gamers to quickly adjust gamma and color saturation. It also comes with other gaming features such as the HDR mode for more vivid colors and clarity, a low-blue light mode, low input lag mode, and more.
Further, the monitor has FreeSync which eliminates screen tearing and stuttering. Take note that FreeSync will only work over HDMI and the Display Port.
On a productivity standpoint, the monitor offers a large enough area that allows for side-by-side layout of word documents or just one huge spreadsheet. Since colors are accurate, you can use it for basic image or video editing.
At Php 10,900, the AOC 24G2E 23.8-inch is a great option for gamers looking for a good quality gaming monitor with loads of features. The panel checks a lot of positives including a vibrant and accurate color profile, a clean layout, an ergonomic design and a host of gaming features including the 144Hz refresh rate, FreeSync, and a 1ms response time.
