POCO F7 Pro review: Power meets affordability

Xiaomi recently launched the POCO F7 Pro in the Philippines. With a starting price of ₱27,999, this handset blends powerful performance with flagship features such as a 2K OLED display, Sony cameras, and a 90W wired fast charging.

We gave the phone a run to see if it’s worth the hype, and here are our findings. Let’s get into it.

Clean Design, Colorful Display

The POCO F7 Pro sports a clean, modern design with a flat metal frame and curved corners, resulting in a sleek yet comfortable handset. Interestingly, POCO maintain a more streamlined look by relocated the IR port and secondary microphone from the top of the device to the camera module.

The back features a stylish two-tone finish, blending glossy and frosted textures for a sophisticated contrast. The round camera module sits slightly off-center to the left, with the LED flash positioned right beside it, creating a balanced aesthetic.

In terms of size, the POCO F7 Pro is equipped with a 6.67-inch display — comparable to the vivo X200 and just slightly larger than the OPPO Find X8. Measuring 160.26 × 74.95 × 8.12 mm and weighing 206g, the device feels solid in the hand while maintaining a comfortable grip.

Overall, the design isn’t groundbreaking, but it delivers a well-balanced form factor and solid build quality.

Going back to the display, the F7 Pro’s AMOLED panel delivers sharp 2K resolution, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision content. Additionally, it boasts several TÜV certifications for eye care, ensuring a more comfortable viewing experience over long hours.

The screen impresses with vibrant colors and deep blacks, providing an immersive experience. It doesn’t quite match the quality of premium flagship displays, but it comes very close. Plus, with a peak brightness of 3200 nits, outdoor visibility remains strong, even under direct sunlight.

Flagship Performance

As expected, the POCO F7 Pro delivers powerful performance. Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It’s a step down from the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but it remains one of the most capable chipsets available today.

Our test unit came equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs on HyperOS 2, based on Android 15. The software experience feels noticeably more refined and intuitive than previous iterations, addressing a long-standing weakness for the brand. Throughout our review, we encountered no issues.

However, the device did come with a lot of bloatware. Fortunately, most of it can be uninstalled or disabled as needed. On the update front, POCO promises four generations of Android OS updates and six years of security patches, which means software support until Android 19.

Benchmark results speak for themselves, too. On AnTuTu, the handset scored an impressive 1,845,864, while Geekbench 6 recorded 2,165 in the Single-Core Test and 6,501 in the Multi-Core Test. It also maxed out the score on 3DMark Wildlife.

POCO F7 Pro

Overall, the POCO F7 Pro delivers flagship-level performance on all fronts. In daily use, the device feels incredibly smooth and responsive, easily handling any app and demanding game. Audio quality from the speakers is above average, and the in-display fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable.

Cameras for Everyday Use

The F7 Pro features a modest dual camera system with a 50MP Sony Light Fusion 800 main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. It also has a 20MP shooter in front under a small hole punch cutout.

The camera delivers decent quality, capturing good detail and vibrant colors. Photos appear sharp with good dynamic range, and the cameras handle low-light conditions surprisingly well. While it doesn’t quite match the performance of premium flagships, it’s more than capable for everyday use.

Battery Life and Charging

For its size, the POCO F7 Pro managed to cram a 6,000mAh battery into its compact build. It supports 90W wired fast charging. Unfortunately, there is no wireless charging available, as this is reserved for the more premium POCO F7 Ultra.

In terms of charging, the F7 Pro charges to 100% in 37 minutes. The handset can last a whole day and more on a single charge. On the PC Mark Work 3.0 Battery Life test, it managed to achieve 12 hours and 25 minutes.

POCO F7 Pro Battery Performance

The test was conducted with the battery at 90%, brightness set at 80%, volume muted, and in airplane mode. This translates to around 10 hours and 56 minutes of active time on battery since last charged.

Final Remarks

The POCO F7 Pro delivers exceptional value at just ₱27,999, offering flagship-level performance without the premium price tag. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, making it faster than other phones in the same price range. It also boasts a sharp 2K AMOLED display, a massive 6,000mAh battery that lasts all day, and lightning-fast charging.

While it may not match top-tier flagships like the vivo X200, OPPO Find X8, or Samsung Galaxy S25 Series, its aggressive pricing makes it a very compelling choice for those looking for high-end features at a fraction of the cost.

The POCO F7 Pro is available in Black, Silver, and Blue colors, priced at ₱27,999 for the 12GB+256GB model and ₱29,999 for the 12GB+512GB model.

Also available is the POCO F7 Ultra in Black and Yellow colors. This one is priced at ₱36,999 for the 12GB+256GB model and ₱39,999 for the 16GB+512GB model.
