MediaTek has introduced the Kompanio 540, a new processor built for student Chromebooks. It’s designed to handle everyday school tasks, creative apps, and long hours of use without draining battery life.
The chip features an octa-core setup with two high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores and a dual-core graphics engine. It supports fast memory (LPDDR5) and storage (UFS 3.1), which helps Chromebooks run smoothly during productivity tasks.
MediaTek says the Kompanio 540 offers up to 35% longer battery life compared to other chips in its class. It also runs cool and quiet, thanks to its fanless design, ideal for classroom settings.
The processor can handle more demanding tools like Minecraft Education Edition and STEM apps such as Tinkercad. It also supports high-quality video streaming, even on external displays, without using too much power.
