MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its first 2nm chip with new Arm CPU and GPU designs. The OPPO Find X10 Pro Max will be one of the first phones to use it.
The CPU setup has two Arm C2-Ultra cores and six C2-Pro cores. MediaTek says single-core performance is 17% faster and 37% more efficient. Multi-core tasks are 15% faster with 61% better efficiency compared to the last generation.
Graphics are powered by the Mali-G2 Ultra NX GPU. It can push gaming beyond 185 frames per second. Peak performance is up 27%, ray tracing is 18% faster, and efficiency improves by 24%.
AI tasks get a big lift from the new MediaTek NPU 1090. It doubles INT4 performance compared to the Dimensity 9500’s NPU 990. Token generation per watt is 55% better, while pre-fill speeds are 51% faster.
For cameras, the chip supports sensors up to 200 megapixels. Video recording goes up to 8K at 60 frames per second, now with VVC (H.266) decoding. Memory support includes LPDDR5X and LPDDR6 RAM, while storage moves to UFS 5.0. Cache is expanded to 16MB L3 and 10MB SoC cache.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is MediaTek’s move into 2nm tech, promising faster performance and better efficiency across CPU, GPU, and AI. With the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max confirmed, you can expect this chip to show up in consumer phones soon.
