The Nintendo Switch has reached a new milestone. As of December 31, 2025, the console has sold 155.37 million units worldwide. This makes it Nintendo’s bestselling hardware and the second bestselling game console of all time, behind only Sony’s PlayStation 2.
Even with the Switch 2 on the market, the original model continues to sell. Nintendo moved 3.25 million units in fiscal 2026, so far, including 1.36 million during the fourth quarter. Demand is still strong despite price increases in 2025.
The Switch 2 is also off to a fast start. Launched less than a year ago, it has already sold 17.37 million units. That’s more than the Wii U’s lifetime total of 13.56 million and close to the GameCube’s 21.74 million.
Games are selling well across both consoles, too. The original Switch accounted for 47.37 million titles in the last quarter, while the Switch 2 added 17.31 million.
Leading the charts are Mario Kart World with 14.03 million units, Pokémon Legends Z-A with 12.3 million, and Donkey Kong Bananza with 4.25 million.
Nintendo also reported 129 million annual playing users in 2025, a number that has stayed steady for three years.
