Roblox faces ban in the Philippines after CICC shortens deadline to 15 days

The CICC has shortened its ultimatum for Roblox from 30 days to just 15. The agency asked the company to respond to concerns about online safety, but said it received no cooperation.

Roblox, a popular online game platform, was flagged as a national security risk. According to the CICC, criminals have used the game to target minors, including cases involving predators and drug traffickers.

The decision was announced at a meeting in Quezon City with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and local telcos. Telecom companies agreed to block access to Roblox nationwide, setting up the mechanism for the ban.

Officials explained that the move is meant to protect children from online exploitation. The CICC also reminded parents to keep an eye on their kids’ online activities.

Given the game’s popularity in the country, a ban will affect millions of Filipino gamers who use it daily. It also raises questions about how such restrictions might impact the local gaming community and digital economy.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the National Cybercrime Hotline (1326) or CICC’s official social media pages.
