Roblox players in the Philippines will soon be required to link their accounts to the Philippine National ID system (PhilSys). The decision follows talks with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), which ruled that the platform will not be banned in the country after agreeing to new safety measures.
The CICC flagged issues around protecting minors from online exploitation and ensuring accurate age checks. To address these, Roblox agreed to integrate PhilSys ID verification. This will allow authorities to confirm player identities and strengthen parental controls already available in the game.
Roblox is also committed to setting up a local office in the Philippines. The office will coordinate with government agencies and handle takedown requests more quickly. This step is meant to improve accountability and responsiveness to local concerns.
For parents, Roblox highlighted existing tools such as account linking, spending limits, and private server reviews. These features are designed to give families more control over how children use the platform. The new ID requirement adds another layer of oversight.
The changes reflect a broader push by regulators to hold online platforms accountable for child safety. Roblox is also working with other countries facing similar complaints about weak age verification.
