CICC gives Roblox 30 days to address child safety issues or face a nationwide ban

CICC has given Roblox one month to respond to concerns about illegal activities happening inside the game. The agency says the platform, popular among Filipino kids, is being used by criminals to target minors.

According to the agency, some users are exploiting Roblox’s interactive features to trick children. Reports include cases of strangers posing as friends, sharing harmful videos, and even trying to involve kids in illegal acts.

CICC Undersecretary Renato “Aboy” Paraiso explained that if Roblox does not work with the Philippine government, the agency will push for a nationwide ban. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will help enforce the move.

The ban would not just block the website. Local internet providers would be told to cut access to Roblox servers. Google Play and Apple’s App Store would also be asked to apply geo‑fencing, which means the app cannot be downloaded or used in the country.

CICC pointed out that Roblox has already faced restrictions in places like Qatar, Iran, Turkey, and even some US states.

While waiting for Roblox’s response, CICC is reminding parents to be extra careful. Warning signs include strangers asking for personal photos, moving chats to private apps, or offering free Robux in exchange for tasks.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the National Cybercrime Hotline (1326) or CICC’s official social media pages.
