The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has outlined its demands for Roblox before its scheduled talks with government officials this April. The agency says these are necessary to protect millions of young Filipino players from online exploitation.
First, CICC wants Roblox accounts in the Philippines linked to the national ID system (PhilSys) to ensure accurate age verification. Current methods, such as self-declared ages or facial recognition, are unreliable and leave minors vulnerable. Officials also want faster access to user data for law enforcement, but only through proper legal channels.
Authorities will ask Roblox to set up a local office in the country and provide direct reporting tools for harmful behavior. They also want context-based filtering to detect grooming attempts, such as predators asking minors for personal details or moving conversations to other platforms.
The government reiterates that this is not an attempt at censorship. However, regulators warned that Roblox could face a nationwide ban if the company fails to comply. Telcos, including PLDT, Smart, and Globe, have confirmed they will block the platform if ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission.
Roblox executives are set to meet with officials from April 7 to 9. The deadline for compliance is April 10, 2026.
