Apple iPhone event: Foldable iPhone Ultra, iPhone 18 Pro, and more

Apple’s iPhone Event on September 9 will unveil the first foldable iPhone Ultra, new iPhone 18 Pro models, updated Apple Watch, and AirPods. New CEO John Ternus will lead the launch, taking over from Tim Cook.

The event is expected to unveil Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the company’s biggest design change in 20 years.

The foldable iPhone Ultra will feature a book-style design. Rumors say it will come with a 5.5-inch outer OLED display and a 7.8-inch inner OLED screen when opened. It will be thin at about 4.5mm open and 9mm folded.

Touch ID replaces Face ID, built into the side button. It runs on the A20 Pro chip (2nm), with 12GB of RAM and a 5,400–5,800mAh battery. Prices could start at $2,000, with higher storage models possibly going past $2,500.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max keep the iPhone 17 Pro look but are said to add a variable-aperture main camera. This will help in both low-light and bright scenes. The Dynamic Island will be smaller, and new colors include dark cherry, light blue, and silver.

The Pro Max packs a 5,567mAh battery and an LTPO+ display for better efficiency. Expect prices to rise by $100–$300 compared to last year.

Apple Watch Series 12 focuses on wellness. It may feature a ceramic case and continuous heart-rate tracking. The Ultra 4 keeps its rugged build but gets a faster chip. AirPods 5 will ship with the new H3 chip for better audio and lower latency, with ANC and non-ANC versions.

Apple is also rumored to show a 7-inch smart home hub with a camera and sensors, plus updates to Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini. Software updates include iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, tvOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27. The foldable iPhone will get special multitasking features.

The event, called “Surprise and Shine,” starts September 9 at 10 AM PT. Pre-orders may open September 12, with sales on September 18. The standard iPhone 18 is said to be delayed until spring 2027. In the Philippines, the event is on September 10 at 1 AM PHT.
