Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0 and Thunder 2.0 Announced

Cherry Mobile has captured a lot fans in the Philippine market and has even done something similar in Thailand. The company seems to be imitating the style of Samsung if we are to base its strategy on the sheer number of models released in the market. The device updates are also staggeringly fast that sometimes it’s hard to track down which models are in the market.

That said, there are two new “2.0” models in the market, namely the Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0 and Thunder 2.0. These are cheap Android handsets just like their predecessors, the Blaze and the Thunder, and Cherry Mobile once again aims to wow the public with a few industry-standard, if not leading, technology.  Cherry Mobile previously released other “2.0” versions of the Omega HD and Skyfire models and now, these new updates to the Blaze and Thunder handsets.

Between the two, the Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0 is obviously the one to be excited about. It has a good set of hardware specs that include an HD IPS display, 12MP BSI camera and a quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM.  It also sports a “scratch-resistant” Asahi Glass reinforcement.  It’s no surprise, therefore, that it’s the more expensive of the two devices. Note however that the internal storage is only 4GB so you will surely need a microSD card to ramp up that storage.

The Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0, on the other hand, is quite a disappointment, although for the price, no one can really blame Cherry Mobile for cutting some corners. The screen, to begin with only has a 480×854 pixel resolution and on a5-inch device, that should result in an ugly display. The RAM is also a disappointment as it’s only the 512MB type. With a quad-core processor, the 512 of RAM will only drag the performance down. In any case, the price is rather cheap so you might want to look into it nonetheless.
