Free Spotify users can now play any song on demand

Pick & Play gives more control over music for free users.

Spotify is making its free tier more flexible with a new feature called Pick & Play. This update lets users play any song they want, without needing a paid subscription.

Before this change, free users could only shuffle tracks in certain playlists. Now, they can search for a song and play it directly. This includes songs shared by friends or artists on social media.

Pick & Play is part of a wider update to Spotify’s free experience. Users can also enjoy personalized playlists, real-time lyrics, and mood-based mixes like Daylist. These features were once limited to premium users but are now available to everyone.

The update is rolling out globally. It’s available on both iOS and Android. Free users just need to update the app to start using Pick & Play.

Spotify recently rolled out lossless audio for Premium users, allowing music streams in FLAC format at up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz quality. Spotify Premium plans in the Philippines start at ₱169 per month for individuals.
